Update:

Thanks to your generous donations along with love, strength, and prayers Boone was able to fight a courageous battle. However, it is with incredible sadness that we share that Boone did not make it, and has become an angel today.

Together we gave him the best chance possible, and the outpouring of love for this very special dog has been unbelievable. We can never thank you enough.

A portion of the donations will support his medical bills to take the burden off of Jamie during this heartbreaking time, and anything additional will be donated in Boone’s name to Puppies & Golf to help other dogs and families in crisis.

We will be leaving this GoFundMe live through Jamie’s birthday (August 24th). In lieu of gifts we encourage you to donate if you can, and/or share your favorite memory or photo of Boone here or on social media.

Story:

If you have ever met Jamie Davis, you have no doubt also met Boone.

Boone is Jamie's seven-year-old Golden Retriever, sidekick, and best friend. While vacationing in Canada, Boone was exposed to a canine infectious respiratory disease commonly known as Kennel Cough. It has since progressed into pneumonia and Boone is currently fighting for his life in the Ontario Vet College in Ontario, CA. He has been on a ventilator since Saturday and was transferred to the ICU on Sunday at this hospital, as it has better means to help him. He is in very critical condition and on life support.

Boone is a very special dog. He is a registered support animal for Jamie and goes everywhere with her. He makes instant friends with everyone he meets and is the most gentle giant you have ever met. I can truly say that he has saved Jamie's life through multiple situations that would bring most people to their knees. Instead, she has always landed on a soft cushion of love and support from Boone. When Jamie and Boone moved in with me, I finally understood what people mean when they say their pets are more like people. Boone is our roommate, friend, and part of our family. It's likely that if you're reading this, you may think of him as your family or friend too.

Thus far the medical bills are already over $25,000. And we estimate that they will likely exceed $40,000 to continue the help he needs to fight this infection. We know he has the will to fight for his life and the life that he and Jamie share. We need to give him the support he has always given us.

Please consider donating. Any tiny bit helps, and if there is anything left over, it will go directly into Puppies & Golf , a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that protects and advocates for dogs in need. Jamie has been VP on the Board of Directors since its inception in 2020.
