BoomBikes for Bernie and the Green New Deal 2020
We are building a music-fueled and bike-propelled movement to mobilize votes for Bernie and other candidates who will fight for a Green New Deal.
We’re Inspired by the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible--
And we need your help to do it!
We need immediate help for our launch event in the Bay Area, Oakland on February 29 and SF on March 1, 2020—just ahead of the California Primary. Our fundraising goal for this event is $10,000, which will help us buy and fabricate the equipment needed for the spectacle we're building.
And we need ongoing help for the entire tour—60 events nationwide, mostly in swing states, between now and the November election.
The events will be Bicycle Music Festivals and Live-On-Bike concerts—mobile concerts that travel from venue to venue in a given city—with bike-powered sound systems, guest speakers and voter registration. It will be a get-out-the-vote effort more exciting than anything seen before.
Please give what you can!
More Info:
The Pleasant Revolution will present a primary- and swing-state event series where local and national acts perform in slow moving bicycle parades through urban streets and neighborhoods, from April to Election Day. These mobile rallies surround audiences with a totally original concert experience combining music and community to build power for Bernie and other candidates who support the Green New Deal. Content will be shared live and edited for distribution.
· Three hour, all ages, social bike ride and mobile rally
· Live music on rolling stages pulled by bike, surrounded by the parade
· Sound Satellite cargo bikes wirelessly receive and amplify the music for any size crowd
· Parade convenes at a park for speakers, tabling and more music—with a pedal powered PA
· In collaboration with local front line groups
· Use relational organizing app for attendees and viewers to influence their friends
· Pilot event in Oakland Feb 29 and San Francisco March 1 in advance of the CA primary
Some example expenses:
• 4 cargo trikes to turn into rolling mini stages: $10k (already purchased)
• 1 tour bus to haul and sleep 30: $12k (already purchased)
• 4 sets of Mackie speakers: $2300/set (1 already purchased)
• 1 cargo trike rolling main stage, including fabrication: $5k
• 5 motors to power stages up hills: $1500 each
• 2 stationary pedal power bikes: $2k each
• silk flags and banners
We'll also spend $15k on 7 months worth of biofuel for the bus, and many times more than that on people fuel. This adventure is going to cost some real money, but we are really experienced at stretching dollars and we have a very clear vision about how to have an instrumental impact on the elections. Which is to say, rest assured that we'll be excellent stewards of your hard earned (or inherited) cash.
Thank you for believing in us!
And, thank you for wanting radical change and supporting it with your resources and effort, whether or not it moves through this project!

About the team, aka the Pleasant Revolution
Since 2007, our team of musicians and engineers has pioneered the
integration of live performance and bicycles, building bike-powered
sound systems, touring car-free thousands of miles around the world
with instruments and gear, and putting on festivals and Live On Bike
events in sixteen countries in partnership with local talent and
producers. We've performed at several of the world’s largest music
festivals, and our longest tour was the subject of an award winning
feature documentary. We’ve seen Live On Bike consistently create
"one of the coolest things I've ever done" experiences for those along for the ride.
