In 2017, when Godwin Henry stepped into a Primary 5 classroom to teach for two years, he was bursting with excitement and idealism. He was ready to make a difference. But nothing could have prepared him for the harsh reality that awaited. Out of 35 students, only two could communicate in English. Some couldn't even identify all the letters of the alphabet. These were 10 to 13-year-olds who had spent years in school. His heart broke.

This story has played out time and time again in Nigeria. The statistics are staggering – 6 out of every 10 children cannot read with meaning or solve simple math problems. It's a national crisis that demands attention and action.

As someone who's witnessed this firsthand, I know that every child deserves the chance to read, learn, and thrive. That's why at Books2kids we’re partnering with Godwin Henry to embark on the Feet for Futures campaign. Godwin will be running an ultra-marathon to raise N1,000,000 (around £500) that will entirely go towards providing books for kids in under-served communities.
