This is why Books on the House exists!
All these scenarios are real for us and happen regularly.
We are a small but mighty nonprofit bringing free books to children and families across the Charlotte, NC region as well as Western NC, expanding to all of NC and parts of SC.
On our bookmobile there are no forms to fill out, no questions and no barriers.
Just books, freely given with love.
From our Bookmobile to pop-up literacy events, school visits, shelters, community centers, and storm-affected regions like Western NC after Hurricane Helene, we meet people exactly where they are — and put stories, learning, and hope back into their hands.
Our Impact (in just 2.5 years):
Over 71,000 free books given away from our bookmobile.
Over 43 schools, shelters, and nonprofits supported with free books.
But the truth is….we cannot keep doing this without you. We had someone tell us not long ago that we are “JUST BOOKS”, and are work is not as important as other causes. It took us a moment to recover, but we came back stronger and more passionate to keep pushing ahead.
