This year, Dorothy I. Height Elementary School in Washington, DC will be holding our THIRD ANNUAL Free Book Fair.

Our first Free Book Fair was made possible by a book vendor closing down a warehouse nearby and donating thousands for books to DC schools. But it was such an exciting event that I wanted it to happen again the following year, and now I hope we can make it happen every year!

We saved leftover books from last year's Free Book Fair and have also collected donations from a neighbor school, parents and staff, and organizations like An Open Book Foundation. Incredibly, we already have enough books to give each student 3 books!

If we raise $2200, we will be able to provide every student, from Pre-K up through 5th grade, with four books.

If we make it up to $4600 we will be able to offer each student an incredible 5 books!

As much as possible, books will be purchased from discounted retailers, especially those that offer discounts to Title I schools like ours.

If we raise extra funds or purchase more books than we give away at the book fair, we will set them aside to

a) include in next year's Free Book Fair (finger's crossed!),

b) give to students in our school community who have been identified as having small home libraries and limited funds, and/or

c) give away at school events.

Every dollar raised will go towards books for kids at Dorothy I. Height Elementary School!
