Book resource for children with arthritis

Donation protected
Most people think I am lying when I tell them my child has arthritis.  My daughter, Mia, was diagnosed with JIA (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis) at 16 months old and I was diagnosed with the same condition at 18 months old.  My mum was completely blindsided when I was diagnosed as she too had never heard of children having arthritis - surely that was just for old people....

I, however, was in a unique position as I have the same.  I knew how to navigate this diagnosis, however, other parents I have spoken to, including my own mum, didn't.

Therefore, I have written and illustrated a children's book, inspired by my daughter that explains JIA to young children.  A book that can be read to them by their parents to help them be in a position to explain to their child what is happening to their little bodies and to prepare them for what's to come in a positive way.

From my own experience, something like this doesn't currently exist as a resource to support parents of young children with JIA.

My plan is to get 150 books printed initially and to contact paediatric rheumatology departments and arthritis charities across the UK to see if they would be interested in trialling the book as a resource to give to parents when their child is diagnosed.  There will be an accompanying evaluation to complete, either online or hard copy, to analyse whether the parent feels the book has helped.

However, I need help to make this happen.

I have approached literary agents to help me publish the book but none of them were interested. I then asked for National Lottery funding through The Arts Council but once again got denied....because I didn't have a literary agent! I have searched for all sorts of different funding however have not been eligible due to not being a registered charity or simply from being in the wrong area of the UK.

I appreciate that money is tight for everyone and I wasn't keen on crowd funding but I simply cannot fund this by myself and I truly think it will help families dealing with JIA.

So anything big or small that you can give would be incredibly amazing and so appreciated as it would help get this worthwhile project off the ground.

Thank you
