Bringing The Book of Silence to the World: A Journey to SITM
Donation protected
We are raising $50,000 to bring our groundbreaking production, The Book of Silence, to the International Society for the Study of Medieval Theatre (SITM) conference in Fribourg, Switzerland, this summer. Your support will help cover travel, lodging, and production costs, allowing us to share this powerful work with an international audience and contribute to the global conversation on trans representation in medieval and contemporary theatre.
Project Description:
The Book of Silence is an inventive retelling of a 700-year-old story about a transgender knight navigating identity, inheritance, and self-discovery. Through audience engagement, medieval performance techniques, and a cast featuring trans and nonbinary performers, this production brings to life the long history of gender diversity.
Now, we have the incredible opportunity to take our production to the SITM conference in Fribourg, Switzerland, where medieval theatre scholars, performers, and researchers from around the world will gather. This is more than just a performance—it's a chance to showcase trans and nonbinary stories in historical theatre spaces, challenge misconceptions about gender history, and create new dialogues on representation.
Your contribution will directly fund airfare, accommodations, transportation of costumes and set pieces, and performance expenses. Help us bring this vital story to an international stage and ensure trans voices are heard in the ongoing global conversation about gender, art, and history.
