Book End Restoration: Help Local Icon Thrive!

Donation protected
The Book End bookstore has been a staple of the Jacksonville community for the past 45 years. It is like a secret that we all know, a place to visit when you need a bit of magic, even if you’re not necessarily a big book reader. And if you’re not a book reader that’s okay at Book End, because there’s no judgment there, just a friendly man with a little bit of knowledge about anything you want to know, and who can find anything you want, if you just ask.
But times are changing faster than ever it seems, and Book End has not been immune to the effects of this new world. As any true patron of Book End would know, it has been a historically Cash Only business. And while we can appreciate the novelty and nostalgia of paper money, it has become somewhat of an inconvenience. Between change shortages and the looming threat of total digital currency in the US, it’s time for Book End to make some necessary changes so that it can continue to operate in this modern economy.
Aside from practical upgrades, it’s long past time that Book End get a little TLC as well. After 45 years, who couldn’t use a fresh coat of paint and a new doormat? There are a few ideas floating around on how to improve Book End both functionally and aesthetically, and with the help of the community there is hope for an even better Book End.
In full transparency, Book End isn’t profitable and has only remained operational because it is a passion of the owner, who keeps the doors open for the benefit of the community. The reality of the matter is that there is no future for the Book End unless changes are made in the present, and in order to do that it is imperative that the people who love Book End and who have benefited from its low prices and friendly staff (singular) support the bookstore during this transformative time. Please help Book End make necessary upgrades that will not only ensure its ability to fully function in this era of technology, but also to thrive and foster community in this post covid society. This is not the end of Book End. This is just a chapter. Donate today, and see how the story unfolds.
