Boo is a 13 year old Siamese cat we rescued in December 2016 from the county. She was in a sad state when they found her, covered in fleas, wandering the streets alone. When we adopted her she was still recovering from that and other allergies She got better and with frequent vet visits and medication, her allergies were under control. Recently, we noticed two disturbing growths – one on her tail and one on her ear. The vet was unsure about it and we did several treatments, and a biopsy. She began scratching her ear and giving herself visible wounds. Finally, we were referred to a specialist dermatologist and oncologist. The costs of all these treatments and visits have piled up and has already cost us about $4,000. The additional cost of the surgery will be between $5000 and $7000. The bad news is she has cancer, but the good news is that they said the prognosis would be good with surgical intervention. She's still a very loving girl, but her occasional feisty-ness has turned into more of a sourness recently. We fear that she isn't just itchy but in pain. Around the same time, Sara (my wife) was laid off from work. That's put us in a short-term bind that we will get out of, but any help is appreciated.
