Helllo !..I am here to introduce you to one amazing and loving dog. Boo!...He was born on Nov 4, 2019 at a local rescue with his 4 brothers.. They were known as the "ghost puppies" , due them all being white and born right after Halloween. His Dna Chart came back as 27% German Shepherd and 22% American Staffordshire...When i saw his photo i knew he was the one for me!..He was born the runt of the litter.. He was about half the size of his brothers, often picked on by them, had a hernia to be repaired and even survived Parvo.. when i picked him up from his foster his front legs started knuckling...it didnt take long and that went away. I was so in Love!!
now how he came about to saving me...I picked him up on the 6 month angelversary of my daughter Candace passing from colon cancer... i was living alone and needing a companion...I went thru a bout of severe depression, even setting a date to be with my daughter..She was gone, and the only person i had was my grandson who my son in law took him and moved out of state...i felt soo alone! i would cry myself to sleep almost every night..Since the first night i brought Boo home with me he slept in my bed by my side...He would often hear me crying and scoot up to me and place his head on my neck and coddle me...He knew i was hurting!..he became my best friend!.. we would often go on walks and to the dog park where i was constantly asked what kind of dog he was because of his huge feet and ears...people would even ask to take his photo. I dont know what i would have done without him being by my side...he and my grandson had given me purpose for staying.
he was never one to jump on furniture or people, he has always been just laid back..i help him every night to get into bed and even in the car ...I have spoiled this dog and it shows...Even at just a few months old i started realizing how much he loved children. once i had taken him into the petstore and there was a little girl about 2 standing and looking at the fish...he saw her from down the aisle and had to go to her...he was so intrigued..i took him closer and he sat down as still as could be and waited for her to look at him..and when she did her face lit up and her father asked if she could pet him...i was in awe watching him sit so still while this small child loved on my puppy...
When my daughter was alive she had trained her own service dog..to help her get her meds, to help her stand, even turn the lights on and off, among other things...One of her wishes was to have a therapy dog to take to the hospitals and give comfort...It became my wish for Boo to become that therapy dog and honor her memory.
Medical issues...His hernia was repaired when he was neutered...and he has allergies and ear infections trying to keep controlled...Last year Boo had a place come up on his eye that came to be known as "cherry eye"..i was able to have the surgery and up to date on all his vaccinations in december...When he went in for surgery they had noticed a lump on his leg..they asked me if i had seen it..i said " yes' the other day, but i honestly didnt think nothing of it because he is a big dog(83lbs) and even assumed it was muscle or something normal. But it was actually bigger than when i had noticed it...the vet had shaved off the fur and i could see the roundness of it..The vet said that when he comes back in two weeks for his follow up and its there they are wanting to biopsy it...I agreed..
Biopsy was completed and results came back as Mast Cell Tumor...Because of where the tumor is on his hock Boo's vet recommended him to be referred to an Oncologist to see about removing the tumor or what his best options are. On Thursday January 13, we went to see the oncologist and she stated that surgery is not an option due to the location of the tumor and she is highly not recommending amputation due to his age and size...his best form of treatment is radiation ..we will have to do diagnostic testing first to check his overall health and lymph nodes to see if cancer has spread. This cost will run $1800-$2000. If all is well and we can start the radiation therapy... it will be one treatment a week for 4-6 weeks but can also range to 10 weeks....The cost estimate for radiation is $4000- $6000...His oncologist is 90 miles away and i have no objections to traveling this on a weekly basis to save him and give him a better quality of life..he is so young and has so much life and love to give...
with the surgery in december and other vet visits my funds have been depleted to come up with this amount is such a short time...This is why i am asking for help..which is very hard for me to do ..but this is how much i love him . I have lost so much in my life i dont want to lose him too...
If i am able to reach his goal and if it exceeds, any unused donations will be divided with 3 local rescues and shelter..they provide a lot of help in our community and are in more need of medical coverage due to abuse and neglect. If you would like to make a direct donation you can do so to Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic in Lexington and MedVet Cinncinatti...Boo Dancy i also have a venmo of @Patricia_Dancy..
