Bon's Leiomyoma Removal - The Great Yeetening!

Donation protected

Hi everyone!

My name is Bonnie, and after several years dealing with painful and heavy periods, I was finally diagnosed last year with a leiomyoma (uterine fibroid).

Unfortunately for me, I assumed that having this level of pain and loss of blood per month was normal - it wasn't - and Feb 18th 2020 I succumbed to a new level of pain through a suspected bout of angina. Blood tests soon showed extremely low levels of iron due to extreme cumulative menstrual blood loss.

I was put on supplements as I went for further testing - it took much longer than expected due to the first nationwide COVID-19 lockdown, which meant simply getting a doctor's appointment for a ultrasound referral took upwards of a month+. After a few back and forths - and unforeseen cancellations - I was diagnosed on June 30th 2020 with a 5cm+ uterine fibroid.

I was immediately booked in for a gynaecologist appointment - my first ever - on the July 16th. I was nervous, but excited, because I had finally gotten answers and was ready to take the next steps towards removing the fibroid.

Unfortunately, the gyno appointment went horribly - I was told there was nothing to be done except to take pills and "hope it doesn't become bigger", and if I did want surgery that I - a young, single woman - would need permission from my husband.

I spent that entire day - and then some - searching for another gyno who wouldn't treat me as just an incubator, and while I found one, it took a few months to actually see her in person. I snagged a cancellation appt on Sept 23, and immediately she was 100% better and started to plan steps for a laparoscopy + myomectomy. But first, we needed more tests.

From Feb 18th 2020 to the 24th of March 2021 I spent time going through:

33 doctors appointments
7 specialist appointments
8 x-rays
8 ultrasounds
15 blood tests
22 blood pressure tests
6 ECG’s tests
5 piddle tests
3 blood sugar finger stabbies
2 CT scans
3 000 emergency calls
2 VitB12 Shots
1 ambulance ride (yay first weewoo!)
4 visits to the ER
21 prescriptions
13 Chiro appts
4 Covid tests
and 3 MRI's

And on the 29th of April, I will be FINALLY going in for surgery for a:

Complicated operative laparoscopy w/ myomectomy (removal of 5.9cm uterine fibroid) and to check for endometriosis/ovarian cysts.
Hysteroscopy
and an insertion of an IUD (Kyleena)
under general anaesthetic.

The estimated out of pocket expense for the surgery is: $1910.10 AUD

The estimated out of pocket expense for the anaesthetist is: $500 AUD

The estimated cost for the Kyleena is: $41 AUD

The estimated total cost is: $2451.10 AUD

Any additional funds will be put towards my recovery/helping pay for previous medical costs and/or paid forward to the community to spread any additional help where I can.

This last year has been tough on a lot of people not just me, so PLEASE do not feel obligated to donate, especially if you cannot afford it. It's imperative you put yourself first and make sure your needs are being met.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for helping me with my cause <3
