Hello! We are the Cole family from Elburn, Illinois. At the end of December we will be traveling to Haiti for a mission trip . We will be working at the Bon Repos Orphanage just outside of Port-au-Prince . We will be doing some masonry work to help fix the school and girls dormitories that were damaged in the 2010 earthquake . We also plan to install solar panels to the roof of the dormitories to provide lighting , which in turn will help to keep the orphan girls safer at night time. Groups of bandits have been attacking girls at other orphanages nearby . The 40 girls here at the Bon Repos orphanage in Haiti range in age from 3 to 18. We must keep the children safe! The total amount of the project is $8,000.00. We have raised $3,000.00 so far through bake sales , lemonade stands , selling head bands and from generous family and friends. Please help us raise the rest of the money! 100% percent is for solar panels and materials needed to install them. We also hope to purchase LED security lights to put at the front gate of the orphanage , also as a safety feature. The solar panels will generate power which will also allow the water / well pump to work, providing water for the girls at the orphanage.
Our family has paid our airfare, ground transportation, lodging and meals ourselves. No donated money is used for our personal expenses! Any amount over and above will be given to Mama Yolanda for the girls at the orphanage . We hope to teach them English and provide computer training in the future. Thank you!
