Hi, my name is Katie and I am starting this fundraiser page for my best friend Bonnie. It all started in Dec 2021 when she got engaged to a great guy and was on top of the world. Later that month she started getting headaches that became unbearable.  She then went to ER not expecting to find out she had a brain tumor. After further work up she was then diagnosed with a pilocytic astrocytoma grade 1. The next course of action was an invasive surgery on 2/2/22. After surgery, they were not able to remove the tumor completely. Recovery was very difficult but she gained strength and got ready to do her 6 weeks of radiation. She finished radiation like a champ in April 2022 and we thought it was all uphill from there. She went back to work, loving life again and planning the wedding of her dreams. She was going for her frequent MRIs and follow-ups with the doctor and the tumor seemed to be reacting well to radiation. She got married in Sept 2022 and continued to strive from there. They purchased their first home in early Dec and were so excited to start their journey together. She went for her routine MRI in mid Dec 2022 and come to find out the tumor was increasing in size. She then found out that not only was the tumor increasing in size but 2 additional tumors have showed up and they spread through out her entire spine now. Her health immediately started declining and she now cannot function like her normal self at all. She unfortunately cannot work either and was denied disability. Her oncologist wants to start chemo but were are currently waiting on insurance approval. Please keep Bonnie in your thoughts and prayers! We hope treatment gets approved soon so she can beat this!
