Bonnie Brzeski's Funeral Expenses

Donation protected

My sister Bonita 'Bonnie' Brzeski passed away over the weekend, she was 51.  Unfortunately, my Mom and I need help in giving her the proper funeral she deserves, especially as we don't want her to be remembered for being found alone in her apartment. That's not the way for anyone to go out of this world, especially for Bonnie as she deserved better.

Bonnie grew up in the part of Chicago known as Bucktown. And, she attended St. Hedwig Grade School (Class of '78), where she played the trumpet in the band, sang in the choir, was an excellent student, and she was the typical smart alecky, pain in the ass older sister.  Bonnie often got the better me, which often left me wondering how she did it to me again. But, I learned from her whether she knew it or not. I could never tell her that because she would win again.

After grade school Bonnie attended Good Counsel ('82), where again she was an excellent student, continued to play in the band, took part in many school plays, and talked about how she liked the way the Felican sisters made each of the girls ready for life after high school and how she loved Good Counsel.

Next, Bonnie went Oakton Community College ('85 & '11) and later graduated from Illinois State University ('91) with degrees in Accounting and Design. Though, my Dad did ask me once "How long are you supposed to be in college for?" I laughed and said, "It depends, 3 or 4 years or 7 ."  But, in Bonnie's case she didn't want it to end as she felt free and liked what she was doing at ISU.

The years after college were filled with happy and not so happy moments. Bonnie loved working at Marhsall Field's, meeting and working with many kinds of people, and she loved one thing the most. That was making the display designs in the window. The same display designs she would see as my parents would take both of us to downtown Chicago to see the Christmas displays when Bonnie and I were little kids.

There was something about Christmas Bonnie liked over all other holidays and she even helped carry many of the blowup cartoon characters in Christmas parades.

I can go on for forever about the things Bonnie liked and did that nobody ever knew I knew, but, this is the part where I have to stop and ask you for your help.

Bonnie and I didn't see eye-to-eye on a few things. OK, several things, but, she was still my sister.

Please help and contribute what you can as it would realy help us send Bonnie off to a better place.

We would like to have a wake for Bonnie where her friends can wish her the last goodbye she deserves, a visitation and service at the funeral home,  a decent coffin, and a burial plot at St. Adalbert's Cemetery to join the rest of our family members who have left us.

Unfortunately, we're far very far away from our goal to help fund a proper send off for Bonnie.

Thank you and God Bless.

Bonnie's brother,

Walter 'Butch' Brzeski
