On Tuesday, June 26th, 2018, we unexpectedly lost our dear friend and colleague, Bonnie Wong Estrada. She passed away in New York while visiting her family. Bonnie was currently the principal at Iowa Elementary School in Aurora, Colorado. Prior to working in Aurora, she worked for Denver Public Schools. Her energy, her love of life, and her commitment to making the lives of others better will never be forgotten. She leaves behind her husband Eddie and her 3 amazing children: Lennon, age 9; Victoria and Leila, age 5, along with many other family members and friends.
Bonnie's visitation and funeral are taking place in New York, where she is from originally. Visitation is Sunday, July 1st from 2-5 pm at the PACER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2275 George Urban Blvd., Depew, NY. The Mass of Christian burial is at St. Martha Parish, 10 French Rd., Depew, NY on Monday at 9:30 am. We will update this page when we find out if a memorial will be held back in Colorado. Bonnie positively impacted the lives of so many people, including many students and their families. She was a strong leader who always saw the best in others, and she always had a way of making everyone she spoke to feel special. Bonnie was full of energy, and she loved spending her weekends camping in Estes Park with her family. She dedicated her life to helping others, and her presence in our lives will be greatly missed.
Many people have reached out through emails, texts and phone calls asking how to help, so this campaign has been created as a place for messages and donations to be left. All donations will go directly to Bonnie's husband, Eddie Wong Estrada (Luis E Wong Estrada), to help support him, Lennon, Victoria and Leila as they grieve the loss of Bonnie.
