Hi, I am Cheryl Ford and I am fundraising for my sister, Bonnie Parham.
My sister went in an ambulance with an allergic reaction to what we think was a hot cocoa bomb that she drank. She broke out in hives and lips started swelling. She received two epipen injections in ambulance, but once in ER her tongue started to swell so they had to intubate her. Later, after being intubated and sedated she went into cardiac arrest. She died for two minutes before they were able to bring her back, but she was having heart failure and dying. After an ultrasound on her heart they rushed her into the Cath Lab where they placed an Impella heart pump to do the work of her heart, saving her life.
Bonnie is still in ICU recovering and has been able to get the pump out. She is extremely weak, but getting stronger. We are SO thankful and blessed, a true miracle.
If you know Bonnie then you know she is such a fun, happy, loving person. This has been very traumatic for our family but especially Bonnie, who is not only trying to recover physically but also mentally and emotionally. Bonnie has a long road ahead, but she is strong and will prevail.
As you might know, Bonnie is a Speech Therapist. She now works at LCPS as well as part time at Aprendamos. Because she is new to LCPS she hasn’t saved up very many sick days so after she exhausts those she will not be getting a paycheck and will most likely have to pay the school district for her health insurance. On top of an eventual HUGE medical bill. Once she is finally able to leave the hospital, she will have to most likely stay with our parents until she can be alone, which will be easier for us since driving back and forth to Las Cruces is very time and gas consuming. Thank you all for your help and continued prayers. We need them.
