Donate to Help Bonnie Murray Kick Cancer’s Butt
We are Bonnie’s aunt and her cousin, and we’re writing today to tell you her story. We learned recently that Bonnie has colon cancer which has spread, a shock that nobody would have thought was possible. We want to help her on her path to recovery as much as possible by raising funds for her medical bills so that she can focus on her family and getting better.
About Bonnie
Bonnie is a friend to everyone she meets, and the most loving, devoted mom to two sweet boys — 8 and 10. She’s a wife to Jason, a daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and a cousin to many. She’s been a compassionate childcare worker for many years, and is simply one of the most caring people you’ll ever know. A Colorado native, she loves spending time with family, enjoying the great Rocky Mountain outdoors, teasing her cousins, and movie nights with her boys. She is our sunshine!
What Happened
In late March, when Bonnie went in for a routine colonoscopy, the doctor had startling news: he found a large mass in her colon. There had been no major symptoms to make anybody even dream that something like this could be happening. It was an utter shock. We all prayed that it would turn out to be a benign tumor, and crossed our fingers that Bonnie could get back to her life quickly with a scar and a scary story.
That hope quickly changed its shape when further tests and scans came back with even worse news. It is colon cancer, and it has already spread to both of Bonnie’s lungs, liver, and lymph nodes. We are all devastated, but know that if anybody can beat this thing, it’s Bonnie — with her strength, resolve, and the support of her loved ones.
How your donations will help
Bonnie’s path ahead is going to be expensive and very hard — surgeries, treatments, and taking care of her kids while potentially not being able to work. Every donation, no matter how small, will make the journey that much easier.
Your help will help Bonnie and her husband to:
- Afford surgeries, cancer treatments, and other medical expenses
- Focus on her journey and on her family instead of on deductibles, co-pays, and all the rest
- Not have to worry about providing for her young boys as she always has during this incredibly difficult time
Our Fundraising Goal
Our goal to begin is to raise $15,000 to help Bonnie and her husband defray the cost of tackling this horrible disease. It would be amazing to know that her mind could be 100% on recovery and on her family. If our goal changes during the course of Bonnie’s treatment, we’ll let you know. Next Steps
Bonnie is meeting with a surgeon and with a cancer specialist in the next few days to build her plan of action and get the ball rolling on tackling this thing. We’ll update you with her progress now and then so that you can follow her journey.
