Hello,
My name is Stewart Clarkson, and I’m a final-year Film & Media student at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.
I’m currently working on my graduation film; a 10-minute historical drama inspired by the hauntingly beautiful Scottish folk song “The Bonnie Banks o’ Loch Lomond.” Set in 1745 during the Jacobite Rebellion, the film explores friendship, loyalty, and the painful choices faced during war.
What is Bonnie Lomond about?
Synopsis:
William and his Jacobite squad are journeying through Loch Lomond en route to Falkirk, when they are ambushed by an English unit. Forced into hiding, they must confront an impossible decision:
betray their country or die.
Set entirely in the Scottish outdoors, Bonnie Lomond is an emotionally charged, cinematic story of brotherhood, identity, and resistance.
Why do we need your help?
This film is entirely student-led and self-funded. While I’m putting in every resource I can, support from the community is essential to help us bring the story to life with the scale and historical accuracy it deserves.
Your donations will go directly towards:
• Costume hire (to reflect 1745 Jacobite and English soldiers)
• Camera & lighting equipment
• Transport (for cast/crew to remote woodland locations)
• Food (to keep everyone fed and fueled during long shoot days)
• Post-production (editing, sound, music)
Even small donations make a huge difference, and every penny will go into the film.

We’re proud to be working with an amazing group of passionate students and emerging creatives:

Where are we filming?
We’ll be shooting on location in beautiful Scottish woodland locations like Roslin Glen, Gore Glen, and Cammo Estate, places that reflect the natural beauty and isolation needed for the story.
Any Support Helps
We’re incredibly grateful for any support, financial or otherwise. If you can’t donate, sharing this campaign with friends, family, or fellow creatives would mean the world.
We’ll also be documenting the filmmaking process with behind-the-scenes content, shoutouts for our supporters, and festival submissions to come!
Thank you for helping us make Bonnie Lomond a reality.
