Bones had emergency surgery
Donation protected
My name is Kate. If you know me, you know my dogs are my angels.
Bones had an accident this past weekend. He was living his best life (protecting me from a rabbit that got into the back yard) and triggered a severe episode of IVDD. He was instantly without any control of the back half of his body and in significant pain. This means no ability to move, go to the bathroom, continued risk for further injury because of lack of sensation, etc.
We rushed him to an emergency vet who prescribed painkillers and steroids. When his condition worsened overnight, we went back to the vet and found that without immediate surgery, Bones would never walk or go to the bathroom again on his own.
Bones means the world to me. We went ahead with the surgery, which was a success, but he's not out of the woods yet. We won't know for another 2 - 6 weeks if he will ever gain full mobility. Right now, he is resting comfortably, following doctors' orders for meds and crate time. He may need additional rehabilitation in the future to gain strength in his legs.
This surgery was very expensive. The emergency vet visits were (and will continue to be) expensive. The rehab is expensive.
While I was more than eager to pay any amount to have my baby feel better and get back to doing his doggy thing, if you can help me at all, it is appreciated. If you can't, please consider sharing this GoFundMe so that someone else could see it.
I love Bones so much. Thank you for reading, sharing, and donating if you are able.
