Bone Surgery for Oscar Rodriguez

Donation protected
Oscar Francisco Rodriguez Gonzalez has a terrible bone infection due to an accident on August 5th, 2017 that left him with a broken tibia that was not properly treated.  Oscar is the neighbor of our host family in Antigua, Guatemala.  We will be returning in November 2018 and we are working together with the wonderful Pellecer family there to help fund these lifesaving surgeries for their neighbor.  Oscar was working in construction before the accident left him unable to work in that field.  He is a widower whose wife passed away 7 years ago.  He lives with his adult children and some of his grandchildren in the Manchén neighborhood of Antigua, Guatemala.  Host brother Marvin Pellecer has begun assisting Oscar by identifying the infection and bringing him to his own bone specialist in Guatemala City.  Marvin's doctor has been providing a strong antibiotic to Oscar free of charge, but he has advised that a surgery is needed to clean out the bone infection, followed by a period of time for healing, then a second surgery to reset and consolidate the bone.  Grace and Maya are enthusiastically planning several events this fall to fundraise at their school.  We would love to be able to make a huge difference for one kind neighbor in Guatemala!  Join us!
