Bone marrow transplant for little Daniel
Donation protected
UPDATE:
There is now hope for Amelia’s family and we are grateful for all the support. We are very happy and relieved that the bone marrow transplant will go ahead and the family will not be asked to pay more than they are able to. If you feel you would still like to contribute, we appreciate it. All funds raised by this GoFundMe page will go towards payment for the transplant.

I am setting this up on behalf of my friend Amelia. This is her story:
My name is Amelia Corzo Remigio and this is a Go Fund Me page to help my son, Daniel, a sweet, full-of-life 6-year-old boy! Daniel was diagnosed with an aggressive leukemia, and we need your help to cover the bone marrow transplant he needs. Please take time to read our story and contribute if you can. I will be forever grateful for any dollar raised to help my son!
When my son Daniel turned 5 in January 2022, during the COVID pandemic, he was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He was treated at the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane, which included multiple cycles of chemotherapy. He was then in remission after the first stage of the treatment. However, a scheduled check-up in July 2023 revealed a relapse. As a result, Daniel is in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant to save his life.
I am originally from Peru. In 2018, I came to Australia with my family (my husband, Darwind, and my two children) to pursue the dream of a PhD at The University of Queensland. At the time, my youngest son Daniel was only 18 months old. Over the last 5 years, Australia has become my family’s home. We have worked and built our lives here and we are surrounded by a beautiful community. Daniel started primary school and he is now in year 1 at Ironside State School. Last year, I concluded my PhD and got a research fellow position at the Sustainable Minerals Institute at The University of Queensland, where I do research in phytotechnologies for mine-soil-water remediation.
As we are not permanent residents in Australia, we do not have access to government support (Medicare), and, our insurance, which so far has covered his treatment, does not cover the bone marrow transplant. And the transplant is too expensive. Going back to Peru is not an option, as the medical system is already saturated and a delay can reduce chances of Daniel surviving.
As a mom, I am asking for your help! We need to raise AUD$500.000 to cover the bone marrow transplant. We acknowledge this is a tremendous amount of money, but we are very hopeful that we can make it with your help. We believe communities are stronger when they come together and that we can make a difference in one child’s life.
Every dollar increases Daniel’s chance of survival!
Grateful forever from the bottom of my heart, Amelia
