Bondi Westfield Stabbing Victim

Spende geschützt
Our friend Liya went to Westfield Bondi Junction to buy a volleyball on a fateful Saturday in April. While she was looking at the Store Locator board, a man we now know as Joel Cauchi, ran up and stabbed her right through her chest. Liya had no time to defend herself, she was left lying on the ground desperately wounded, saved only by the quick thinking of a passer by who dragged her into a shop and closed the security screen. Eventually the paramedics were allowed in to treat her. She nearly lost her life in Westfield and again at the hospital. The surgery was a race against time to repair the extensive damage. By some miracle the knife narrowly missed her heart. However, the incident resulted in a pierced stomach and liver, three broken ribs and severed arteries and veins. The surgeons battled not just to save her life but to prevent lasting neurological damage, as her brain was starved of oxygen for a critical period. We still don’t know exactly how her life will be affected both physically and psychologically.

Liya is taking life one day at a time but is scared of what the future brings. She doesn’t know when she will be able to work again and how she is going to support herself. We are trying to provide enough funds to get her through for a little while to aid her recovery.

Please help us support her.
