Brenda is an asylum-seeker from Central America. She is in the MPP (Remain in Mexico) program and had been waiting in Tijuana for over a year, until January when she went to her final court hearing in San Diego immigration court and was taken directly to detention. She has been at Otay Mesa detention jail since January - now living with the rising cases of covid-19 among detainees.
We have secured a pro bono attorney for Brenda and FINALLY after many failed attempts to reach her belligerent detention officer, her bail was set. It was set at $7,500 - a very punitive and cruel amount. Please remember, Brenda has done NOTHING wrong, but to ask our country for help and safety.
Brenda is a brave, strong, independent and honest woman. Someone we would be very lucky to have living in our country.
Will you please consider pitching in? We have already raised $5000, we will get to the $7500 - only with your help.
Thank you for your solidarity.
