Hello everyone!

We are a team from Bon Secours Hospital, Dublin, and over the past few months we have been training hard for an exciting challenge — the National 4 Peak Challenge this September! Our goal is to climb the highest peaks in the 4 provinces — all within 36 hours.

Our team includes members of our multi-disciplinary team, along with members of our management team. Together, we will be setting off early on Saturday, September 20th, starting with Slieve Donard (Co. Down), then on to Lugnaquilla (Co. Wicklow), across to Kerry for a night climb of Carrauntoohil, and finishing with Mweelrea (Co. Mayo) on Sunday before returning to Co Down.

We are doing this for two very important causes:

1. Supporting a new hospital in Chigwere, Northern Malawi.

This hospital was left unfinished for years after the passing of its original fundraiser and was in an unfinished state which had been worsening through neglect and adverse weather conditions over a number of years. Thanks to funding from the Bon Secours Sisters in 2024, the building has now been completed — but it still needs equipment, furniture, and supplies to finally open its doors and care for patients. We want to help make that happen.

2. Helping us enhance the care we provide for our Oncology Patients.

At Bon Secours Dublin, our busy Oncology Unit cares for many patients undergoing chemotherapy. We are also raising funds for a scalp cooling cap, which helps prevent or reduce hair loss during treatment — something that can make a huge difference in a patient’s journey.

Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to these goals. Your support will help us climb mountains — literally — for better healthcare, both in Malawi and here in Bon Secours Hospital Dublin.
