Dear Bombshell Patrons and Theatre Lovers Alike,

This past Friday (01/12/24), a winter storm in south eastern Wisconsin, left most of the area buried in over 12 inches of snow, and over 160,000 people without power in freezing temperatures. This unfortunately coincided with a sold out final weekend of our (Bombshell Theatre's) production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Due to a failure of progress from our local Energy company, every single scheduled performance had to be cancelled. This has caused a critical revenue loss of over $10,000.

Although, Bombshell Theatre just recently celebrated our third birthday, we still operate on a start-up/non-profit budget. Our leadership does not take a salary, and those working in various production positions only get paid a fraction of the true value of their contributions. All of our production profit's go right back into our company because we know investing in ourselves will pay off in the long run. Our sudden loss of $10,000, through no fault of our own, has been a critical blow that leaves us scrambling to figure out how to pay for the rest of our 2023-2024 Season. We don't operate on million dollar budgets like other theatres, $10,000 is a large portion of our entire budget. Our financial loss is nothing compared to the grief our Cast & Crew are feeling, having not been able to perform what they have been working on tirelessly for months.

We do not expect to recoup this revenue, nor do we want to gloss over the fact that restoring power to people's homes is more important than our non-profit losing money. In fact, in the post-pandemic theatre environment, we were already trying to format our company to not depend on donations at all. However, due to the extreme and unpreventable nature of this loss, we have decided to put our story out there. Whether you have the means or interest to donate at all, we are happy you cared about our cause enough to even read this. Any amount of support will be greatly appreciated and life changing, even if that means just buying tickets to our next show!

Our revenue loss was calculated on the following:
  • $7,000 in refunded ticket sales over 4 cancelled performances.
  • $1,000 in Drawing Funds & Merchandise Sales Loss
  • $2,000 in unusable Promotional Materials (playbills) and Online Advertising expenses.

What $10,000 would have covered for us:
  • $4,000 for upcoming Licensing Fees
  • $6,000 for Set/Costumes for 4 Summer Regular & Youth Productions

This is in addition to our monthly operating bills/expenses of $1,500.

We are so thankful to the cast, crew, and patrons that believed in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. To memorialize the production we created an extended highlight reel to showcase the work we put into this production. We will remember you forever, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes!

Until we see you on stage again,
