Hi my name is Anna and I am fundraising to take our young man Boki to surgery to recover the sight loss in both eyes. Boki is a 7 year old Samoyed who we rescued during the pandemic when he was 20 months old. Boki was taken from the breeder and his doggy mum when he was 8 weeks old by a family. He was only 10 months old when he was given up after being abused. We were looking for a St Bernard dog for our surviving pup who lost his twin sister. We went to see a St Bernard dog in a kennel and found Boki. He was tiny and fearful. Still a baby. Very scared and angry with men. Protective towards his mum and putty in the hands of little girls. We reckon he had a young sister in his previous life. It took him a long long time to get better. Through the loss of his St Bernard older brother and the welcoming of a loving but very very annoying little sister. Last year he became very ill and was diagnosed with Diabetes. As we navigated the twice a day insulin injections we were grateful that he was patient with us when we injected him only grumbling but letting us inject him. However over the last one year he has slowly been losing his sight. With Glaucoma taking over his eyes its been hard to see him become unsure of the house that was his safe space. Unsure of going up and down the stairs and slowly retreating into a shell. At only 7 years old we have been told he is young and can regain the complete use of his eyesight. this news would be amazing except that the surgery and recovery will cost us in excess of £7000.
Despite the fact that we got him insurance from the day we rescued him and never having claimed for anything we have been told that with no guarantee of being paid, the maximum we can get towards his surgery from the insurance, the maximum cover we will get is £2000 in total.
If you are an animal lover and want to help Boki see and live his life to the full we would be eternally grateful if you can spare anything towards this cause. If you are unable to contribute we would appreciate a share so that it can r each as many people as it can. Thank you for reading and God Bless you.
