Hi everyone, my name is Graceann. Me and my boyfriend Ronnie have had our cat Bojack for almost 2 years now, and we couldn’t imagine life without him.
Three weeks ago, Bojack got very ill and we had to rush him to the emergency vet, where we found out he had a urinary obstruction. This means there was a blockage in his urethra that rendered him unable to pee. This is very common but serious and life threatening issue in young male cats. Thankfully, the procedure he received and the two day hospital stay after saved his life. This cost us $5,600, but we were thankful to be able to get him the appropriate medical attention and keep him going. We were also instructed to switch his diet to a medicated urinary diet, which was quite pricey but worth it to keep him healthy.
Unfortunately, we were warned this could happen again. Today I woke up to Bojack yowling, clearly in pain, and experiencing the same symptoms. We rushed him to the vet again and they confirmed he has blocked again. He now needs another surgery that will alter the size and shape of his urethra to keep him alive and to prevent this from happening again. The cost of this is nearly $7,000.
Ronnie and I’s savings have been depleted from the last emergency, and our new pet insurance is not in effect until June 10th. We have opened up a CareCredit account to pay for his procedure, but are unsure how we’ll be able to pay it off.
Anything you can chip in would be more appreciated than you know. We love our cat more than anything and are torn up with stress about him and his condition, and are incredibly stressed about how we will be able to handle this financially. Thank you for taking the time to read and we appreciate you all.
