Bohol, Philippines Disaster Relief
Donation protected
My parents, brother, and extended family currently live in/near Tagbilaran City (Cogon), Bohol, Philippines. A recent Category 4/5 typhoon devastatingly hit the island of Bohol and the aftermath is shocking. While the island was still somewhat recovering from the 2013, 7-magnitude earthquake and continues to battle COVID, this happened. I currently cannot contact any family via phone or text as the island does not have any electricity or cell signals because the towers fell. Clean water is also not running. The photos attached below were found on Facebook (thank you Bohol Chronicle and Bohol Monitor, where I found these pics) as social media is the only way I can find updates.
I typically don't like asking others for money, but I felt a strong urgency to help out those in need in Bohol. Right before the typhoon, my parents bought some food and other supplies to donate to our neighbors and those in the surrounding areas in celebration for the upcoming Christmas holiday and New Year. However, now the people need it more than ever, especially in the regions surrounding the city where there is massive flooding.
I am raising as much money as possible so that once I am able to get in contact with family over there, I will send 100% of the raised funds to my parents who will purchase supplies for the people. I don't trust giving the money to the government or other agencies as I want to know where the money and goods are going and are received directly to the people. This is a terrible event to happen right before the holiday season and I want to make sure we can help as many people as possible as Bohol makes a recovery.
ANY dollar amount will help; even it's $1! I made a random goal amount, but I am very grateful for any amount we can raise. I pray for a speedy recovery to my beloved Bohol. Thank you so much and God bless.
