Bohdan Morford Open Heart Surgery
Donation protected
On April 25, 2022, Ruslan and September Morford brought their second son, Bohdan (Bohdy) Morford into the world. During the delivery, September suffered from a painful birth injury causing for her to need heavy medications and unable to care for their son. As nurses were in and out helping September in the hospital, it was discovered that Bohdy had a congenital heart defect called coarctation of the aorta. This was shocking and devastating news amidst what September was already facing.
After spending a week in the NICU, Bohdy was Life Flighted to Primary Children’s Hospital and at one week old, Bohdy had open heart surgery. His surgery was thankfully very successful, but his recovery has been a slow process. For two weeks, Ruslan and September traveled back and forth from Primary Children’s, which was about an hour away from where they lived, having to leave their older son behind. When Bohdy finally got to come home he had to be on oxygen, blood pressure medications, and strictly eat from a feeding tube. Although Bohdy is making great strides recovering at home, he still has a ways to go before he will be a normally functioning baby.
On top of Bohdy’s surgery, there is a chance September will also need surgery to fully heal from her birth injury.
The Morfords live as a one income family. Ruslan is a great provider as a Law Enforcement Officer, while September stays home and takes care of the two boys (currently 17 months and 2 months old). But these expenses are still very high even with insurance. Hopefully, this fundraiser will ease a bit of the burden that Ruslan and September are having to carry. Thank you.
