Bogue Callen is just like any other 25 year-old starting out in this world, ready to take on all of the challenges and joys of adulthood. He has been married for 2 years to the love of his life, Courtney. He recently finished Respiratory Therapist school and landed a job in late December of 2015 as a licensed RRT. This job gives Bogue the necessary experience to gain a full-time position at a hospital , but does not provide benefits such as medical disability and health insurance. Courtney gave birth to their beautiful sweet daughter, Isla Blu, in March of 2016 and she is the joy of their lives.
Life was moving along at a beautiful happy pace and it seemed like nothing could stop them now. Then one day in early March, right after Isla was born, Bogue felt a lump on the left side of his neck. Thinking it was nothing he sort of dismissed it, but it was still on his mind. A week later it was still there and with a gentle nudge, Courtney urged him to go see the Doctor. After an ultrasound, and then a CT scan, it was determined that Bogue had an enlarged lymph node in his neck and several others in his chest near his heart. Surgery was performed to remove the lymph node in his neck and it was sent off to pathology. Five days later Bogue was given the bad news that he has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
This has been such a shock to Bogue, his wife Courtney, his family, and everyone else who love and know him. He will receive 6 months of intense Chemotherapy, radiation therapy , and will not be able to work during this time. Without sick pay or medical disability his family will suffer financially and emothionally as well. His oncologist does not want him to work during treatment because as many of you know, this treatment can be physically devastating, and also suppresses the immune system making him vulnerable to viruses and bacterial infections. We hope and pray that Bogue will make a full recovery with treatment.
