Bogdan "Lulu" Wiśniewski
Donation protected
Bogdan Wiśniewski, known lovingly by those closest to him as “Lulu,” grew up in an orphanage in a small town in Poland, and died a man loved beyond limits by the people who were proud to call him family. He was an artistic visionary, an incredibly skilled builder, a master craftsmen, and above all else, a fiercely loving, funny, and dedicated friend.
Lulu would never hesitate to go out of his way to help those around him; it didn’t matter if you'd just met him, or if you’d known him for years. Lulu would consistently put other people ahead of himself, generously donating his time, extensive skillset and contagious, unmistakeable energy to make those peoples' lives better.
Anyone who ever met Lulu has a story (or a hundred) about him, recounting his truly unique approach to life that would bring you to tears with laughter, wondering just how someone so special could exist. He was directly honest, brutally funny, and true to his values in a way that couldn't be taught.
Lulu died suddenly on the 19th of September, 2023, and his death marks a tremendous and irreparable loss for his loved ones. Although he had a chosen family that was nothing short of authentic – a family that misses him to no end – he leaves behind no genetic relatives. During his life he had made it clear to his family what he wanted to be done with his remains after death, however, the laws of the state of New York state made it difficult for those who he loved, and who loved him, to recover his body so that we can honor those very humble wishes, until now.
We’re asking for donations to help cover the fees needed to transport his body, for his cremation, and for his memorial, in line with what he asked of us while alive. Thank you for helping to preserve the memory of this loveably eccentric man who never failed to surprise us with his caring, generous character.
