Body Weight Prowler Challenge For My Dad
Donation protected
For those of you that don’t know, on Friday, June 21st mine and my family’s lives changed in an instant. In the afternoon I received a call from my dad’s place of work telling me he’s had a stroke. I immediately left work and rushed to the scene to find paramedics surrounding my dad and to see clear as day he had indeed suffered a serious stroke. My Dad was rushed to Arrowe Park Hospital, where we were told that the bleed was one of the largest, they had ever seen. It left him completely paralysed on the right side, unable to speak, swallow, or eat. Doctors warned us that my dad’s condition was critical and that he might not survive the next few days.
Against all the odds, battling pneumonia, multiple infections, and even COVID-19, my dad is still alive. His recovery is slow, he still can’t speak, swallow, or eat and is becoming incredibly frustrated by that. We have been told the chances of my dad ever talking or walking again are very slim. Hearing this as you can imagine was incredibly hard as not only is he my dad, but he is also my best mate.
His journey is far from over, and we want to bring him home. However, the challenges are immense. Our home needs major adaptations to accommodate his new needs. In the meantime, we’re looking to fund a structure in our garden that can house the equipment and care he will require once he’s discharged from the hospital.
The challenge the wonderful people of Zone Fitness have set me is for every pound raised, I will complete one lap on the prowler with the weight set at my body weight. A very horrible yet amazing challenge. :)
I will be doing this challenge in the hope of raising money to help us build the structure my dad needs to come home.
Thank you.
