Dearest Friends, Beloved Customers and Bode’s Family Members,
Last year in July I was presented an opportunity to take ownership of Bode's Corned Beef House. Everyone told me I was crazy to even think about it, but something made me feel that I had to do it!
Located in Plymouth, Michigan, Bode’s has been operating for over 60 years. It’s been called an institution, a landmark and is loved by so many! I, like so many of you, fell in love with Bode’s: the history, the staff, the regulars, their stories...
And so began my eight-month journey to bring Bode’s back to life!
The last year has been full of so many ups and downs, laughter and tears. Words cannot express my gratitude to everyone that has been here to help us through it all.
When our governor announced the Covid Stay at Home Order before St. Patrick’s Day, I more than panicked. Because of your support we had a line out the door and ran out of food. When things slowed down more, you came through and made every Friday Fish Fry during Lent a success. You’ve continued to call in orders and curbside pickups. Many of you have offered heartfelt concern, words of encouragement and prayers. To say thank you is not enough.
I could never thank this staff enough. In July they picked up paint brushes and scrub brushes to help me get Bode’s ready for reopening. Now, they continue to put their heart and souls into this place...for me. Some working only for tips and others offering to forgo their pay altogether. These amazing women and men have put so much love and energy into making this the BEST Corned Beef House ever, and they are now suffering. I do not know how long I can help them, and I do not know how much longer I can pay the bills.
Posting this was a very difficult decision for me, but as we wait for our State to release funding, I have to. I am asking for your support.
We appreciate every one of our Bode’s family/customers and can't wait for you to sit in here again. We miss you all! I pray that all of you are safe and healthy and will consider helping. Thank you....BODE ON!
