I'm sorry to report that my good friends Pete and Maria Guitterez permanently closed their Inn in Summer 2021. We met eight years ago when I first stayed at Boca del Cielo. As a regular guest visiting from San Francisco, we quickly became close friends over their incredible breakfasts. They also asked me to design their website and help with online marketing. Getting to know the entire Guitterez family, as well as Tico (their Macaw bird) was an added pleasure!
COVID-19 drastically reduced hotel reservations in 2020. And 2021 brought additional challenges, as the building needed costly repairs and a new roof. Their best option was to pass the business along to a new owner, who is able to fund property upgrades before reopening. Pete and Maria are also challenged in covering special-needs assistance for their daughter Isabella - who has Downs syndrome.
Their heartfelt desire to find another opportunity in the lodging industry. We're developing an email list of friends and former guests who may want to visit the Bay Area again - and we'll let you know if we open a new place. Most of all, THANK YOU for staying with us. It's been a great pleasure meeting you, your friends and family, and people from all over the world - we truly miss seeing everyone!
Most everyone earmarks a portion of their financial blessings to help others. Boca's property had dual ownership, which made many of the COVID-related loans and assistance programs inaccessible. If you're able to support this fundraiser, we'd greatly appreciate your help.
Thanks - Happy Holidays - and we hope to see you again in the future!
