Jill and Bob Jensen are two of our most treasured Cheyenne neighbors. If you don’t know, when Jill was diagnosed with MS so many years ago, they turned that difficult news into action and for years were found on the front lines raising thousands and thousands dollars for MS research. They assisted others with the same diagnosis and made an immeasurable impact on those lives.
When they felt they had made their contribution there, in 2012 they helped found K9s for mobility, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of others through training and placement of Assistance Dogs. That program continues to be instrumental in training and placing service dogs throughout the nation.
Much to Bob’s chagrin he has been “encouraged” by Jill, his family and friends to have much needed hip replacement surgery. Surgery is daunting enough, but Jill and Bob have the added challenge of making sure that Bob’s duties as Jill’s caretaker are covered during his surgery and recovery.
And here is where we need your help. Because of the complexities of Jill and Bob’s situation, Bob had decided he’d just hobble around for the rest of his life. For those of you that know him and the active role he plays in the community, that option was unacceptable to the rest of us, Although Bob is not a fan, and even very embarrassed, family and friends are literally forcing him to take care of himself and allow us the honor and privilege of raising funds to hire a 24/7 caretaker for Jill. Such care is necessary to make certain that all of Jill’s needs are met during Bob’s recovery as well as helping Bob maneuver recovery.
It is hard to believe how expensive such care is, We realize the goal is a lofty one, but also feel that there are few people more deserving of our help. They have turned the difficulties they have faced with Jill’s illness into a calling. They face the challenges head on and decided years ago to use Jill’s diagnosis to make a difference. They have no idea how much their dedication to so many causes and each other inspire the rest of us. Please join us in this opportunity to give back to two people who have given so much to others.
Contributions can be made through a direct contribution to an account established at Jonah Bank with the name, “Bob’s Hip Project”, or contributing to a Go Fund Me account named Bob’s Hip Project.
Thank you very much for your help. It will be greatly appreciated and allow contributors to finally give back to this deserving couple!
