My name is Gary Jessup and I am the little brother of Bob Jessup. Bob is single and lives in the Chicago area where we grew up. He is the only family member that still lives in Chicago. The rest of us (Mom, brother, sister, nieces, extended family and myself) have all migrated to Florida where Bob enjoys visiting every winter when he can no longer work outdoors in Chicago. He has been coming down to Florida for many years to stay with family and fish which is a passion of his. He has always been the healthy one in the family, working out regularly, swimming a few miles daily and working outdoors doing landscaping. In August he had a little blood in his urine. He went to the doctor and consequently found that he had Hepatitis C, severe liver disease and liver cancer. It was not long that we discovered it was already in its advanced stages and there was no treatment for the Hep C or liver disease. Consequently, the doctors have been treating his liver cancer with little success. Now they have decided that he can not withstand anymore chemo. He is in his final months.
I am now reaching out to friends and family. We are hoping and praying that we may be able to move him to Florida to be with his family but we need help. He has been unable to work since August when he was diagnosed. Bills are mounting and there is a lot that needs to happen for him to be able to come to Florida. Some of Bob’s bills are being paid through insurance, but unfortunately, there are many more bills to be paid than what insurance can cover. We are all pitching in what we can, but I must admit the bills have become a bit overwhelming now.
Neither my brother nor I are the type to ask for help and this is very hard for us to ask. I can tell you that it will mean the world to the entire family if we can raise enough money to make his time the best that it can be. It would mean getting out of the cold snowy weather and into the warm sun surrounded by family. Sounds a lot easier than it is. Lots to get done...
Any assistance we receive will go to paying mounting bills, moving him and belongings to Florida, the expenses for equipment not covered by insurance, and the many miscellaneous expenses. May God bless you for any help you can provide.
Thank you,
