Bobby Vance's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Angela Wilson and I am the middle daughter of Bobby Vance.
My dad has had a tough couple of years, and we're now to the point where we need help.
At the beginning of this year, my dad, Bobby, dislocated and broke his ankle, which required surgery to put in a plate and several screws. As he was healing, his primary care doctor left Meridian, and he was forced to find a new doctor. In this process, they changed some of his medications. One of the medications they put him on caused him to go into 100% kidney failure. Dad spent 10 days in the ICU and several weeks at Tom Maynor Rehab to rebuild his strength. By the Grace of God, he was able to pull through and was well on the road to recovery.
A month after being home, rebuilding his strength with home health nurses, Dad turned jaundiced. He ended up in the ER. The doctors were convinced that Dad had gallstones and would need his gallbladder removed. So, they admitted him. The next day, they did a scope, and we found out that Dad has Cholangiocarcinoma, a very rare form of bile duct cancer. The doctors said Dad would need Whipple surgery. This surgery is where they remove the bile duct tree, part of the stomach, part of the intestines, part of the pancreas and all of the gallbladder. Pretty invasive surgery.
After consultations in Jackson with multiple doctors, it has been decided that Dad would complete 8 rounds of chemo before the surgery. He has currently had 2 rounds and is doing OK with those treatments, mentally and physically.
All of this to say, Cancer is expensive. Doctor visits are expensive. Traveling is expensive. Both mom and dad are retired, living on a set income, that does not cover these extra costs. My sisters, our husbands and the grandkids have been pitching in and helping where we can. To relieve the stress of trying to decide to eat or get medicines, or pay the house payment, I'm humbly asking that you consider donating a little to relieve the stress off of Dad so he can focus on his recovery. Thank you for reading and considering, we appreciate all of the prayers and help anyone can offer. God Bless.
