Bobby Parker Grave Restoration Appeal (Lambhill Cemetery)
Donation protected
My name is Rob Sawyer and I'm organising an appeal on behalf of the Everton FC Heritage Society (EFCHS) - of which I am a member - to help fund the restoration of the final resting place of one of Everton's goalscoring heroes.
But for the First World War, Bobby Parker would have gone down as one of the great British centre-forwards. The Possilpark-born man, formerly of Ashfield FC & Rangers, scored the goals to push Everton to the 1914/15 Football League title.
Badly wounded while on active duty with the Royal Scots Fusiliers in 1917, he never hit the same footballing heights again, but served Nottingham Forest, Fraserburgh & Bohemians (as coach) with distinction. In later life he suffered from debilitating ill health and financial hardship. He died at 60 years of age and was buried in his home city, Glasgow.
To mark Bobby’s contribution to football, as well as his military service, the Everton FC Heritage Society - supported by groups linked to his other clubs - wishes to restore his grave.
Your donations will go towards the overall cost (in the region of £2,500) of repairing and re-erecting the original headstone plus installing an accompanying freestanding plaque with flower holder to commemorate Bobby's achievements. Any surplus funds will by used by EFCHS for projects to restore commemorate other significant persons linked to Everton FC.
Thank you for your support.
