Five years ago, on March 27, my husband Bobby Jones passed away at just 26 years old after battling kidney disease. Losing Bobby changed my life in ways that changed the way I view life. Bobby was young, full of life, and loved deeply. Being loved by him was one of the greatest gifts of my life.
Bobby's dream was to start a foundation to help others like him who were experiencing hardship while living with a chronic illness. Even while facing his own health challenges, he always thought about how he could provide support to families who may have experienced similar hardships as his family did when he was young.
During Bobby’s final days, I experienced firsthand how overwhelming kidney disease can be for families. The hospital visits, the uncertainty, the emotional toll, and the financial strain are things many families face while simply trying to care for the people they love.
Over the years, I have thought a lot about the families who are still walking this same path, especially those caring for children living with kidney disease. No family should have to face that journey alone.
In honor of Bobby and the love he brought into my life, I am founding the Bobby Jones Kidney Foundation. The mission of this foundation is to support families of juveniles living with kidney disease and help ease some of the burdens they face.
As we approach the fifth anniversary of Bobby’s passing on March 27, I want to turn a day of remembrance into something that continues Bobby’s legacy of love, compassion, and service to others.
If you feel moved to support this mission, I invite you to donate in Bobby’s memory. Every contribution will help us take the first steps toward supporting families who are navigating kidney disease.
Thank you for honoring Bobby’s life and helping his dream live on.
