Bobby and Monique’s (Nikki) Battle Ahead

Bobby and Monique’s lives have been turned UPSIDE DOWN! My sister and BIL, Monique and Bobby Allen, live there in Corsicana off Spur 294 I think it is. Yesterday around 7pm my BIL was on a 28ft ladder cutting a large limb down when it knocked him off the ladder. My sister went to check on him cause he hadn’t checked in. She found him lying on the ground with his left arm behind him, unresponsive, and blood everywhere. She ran inside to call 911. The ambulance came and took him back to the fire station, but had to call for care flight to come take him to the nearest trauma hospital. He was care flighted to UT Tyler medical Center, which is a trauma 5 hospital. As soon as we knew where he was going, I took off to Tyler, my mom went to get my sister (Monique) and then came to Tyler and my daughter went to get my brother-in-law‘s mom to bring her to Tyler. When I got to the hospital, he was intubated, on the ventilator, with the C collar on, and in a medically sedated coma with propofol and fentanyl. The doctor did come in and talk to me and said they had scanned him from head to toe and the only fracture they found was the sigmoid bone behind his sinuses. No ICP or blood bleed. Once he got up to Trauma ICU, the facial cranial doctor came in and confirmed the fracture but also told my mom that he had a broken nose and BOTH his eardrums were ruptured so if/when he woke up he would not be able to hear anyone. They are going to bring in an ENT and said that he would likely have to have surgery on both ears sometime in the future, not sure if he will ever hear again. We won’t know til later. WELL, when my sister ran in to call 911, on the way in, she hit her foot on a piece of wood from a tree that was broken into pieces, but due to the adrenaline rush of what was going on, she never felt the pain. After she was able to go in to ICU and see my brother-in-law I took her downstairs to the ER for x-rays. She has sustained a broken right foot at the base of the big toe and the fourth digit on her right foot. She is now in a boot, on crutches and will need to see an orthopedic. It was her right foot so she is unable to drive. Here is where I’m asking for help. Actually, THEY need help. They are the sweetest people you will ever meet and they will give the shirt off their back to anyone. I have no idea what the road ahead looks like for them, other than I know that my brother-in-law will probably never be able to work again and that is all he’s known since he was 15 years old. He is the sole provider for the family. They are raising MY two granddaughters ages two and 3 1/2 because at the time I was going through breast cancer and chemo and was unable to take them. I still take chemo every dayand have my own daily challenges that still do not allow me to be able to take care of them on a full-time basis. My sister and brother-in-law‘s names are Nikki and Bobby Allen. She also goes by Monique. I know there are going to be many expenses in the future with deductibles, co-pays, the mortgage, monthly bills, surgeries that either one or both will incur in the future, groceries, they will need someone that would be willing to volunteer to come mow the yard because Bobby will not be able to do that for sometime. I would like to start a GoFundMe page to help raise funds so it can hopefully take some of the financial burden off of them both, and especially my sister, not feeling the need to hurry back to work right away as she needs to take care of herself and now her husband. My mom will be staying with them for the next several weeks since my sister cannot drive to take her back-and-forth to the hospital, take him to doctors appointments once he is released, take my sister to the doctor and be there to help take care of the house. One thing you should know about my sister and brother-in-law is they do not ask anyone for help. Never in 1 million years would they ever ask for a GoFundMe page, but I just feel that this is what I need to do for them. This is my only sister and she is my BEST FRIEND and I need her to take care of herself as well as my brother-in-law because if for some reason things go south, and we lose him, I’m gonna lose her. So, with that being said, I will put a GoFundMe page together here in a little bit and add it to this post, and if y’all would find it in your heart to donate, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, please feel free to share it with your friends and family, and let’s try to reach as many people with his story as possible across the country. Please continue to pray for them both. Prayers for Bobby as he recovers this terrible accident and injury and for my sister is she maneuvers through the next several weeks, trying to figure out what she needs to do to help him and to take care of herself. Prayers for my mom as she is with them taking on more than I think she is going to be able to handle but that is her baby and no one can tell her otherwise.
