Bobby and Marley: A Bond for Better Days

Regards, my name is Bobby Disney. I am a military Veteran who served a tour in Iraq and Kuwait. I am currently raising money to cover the cost of adopting a service dog and transporting her to my home in Wyoming from Texas.

I came across a time in my life when my PTSD symptoms became unmanageable, and I was unable to learn the proper coping skills to work through the events in my past that have been causing my life to be unruly. I was searching for options and was allowed to travel to Texas to attend a 42-day program called Warriors Heart. The primary focus is to learn the skills that are necessary to face and combat my mental health issues with the overall goal of starting the long road to becoming a healthier, better version of myself.

Here at Warriors Heart, we participate in a wide variety of activities. Specifically, I am working with their K-9 department daily, training and working one-on-one with a 1-year-old Labrador named Marley. During my 42-day stay, I will train her from the basics of obedience to become a certified service dog. She will be able to recognize my triggers and provide me with the support needed to face the challenges in my future upon my return home.

I am starting this fundraiser to raise $5,000 to complete the adoption process and an additional $1,500 to transport her home after my time at Warriors Heart is completed. All donations are accepted and greatly appreciated. Having the opportunity to work with this dog is a blessing all on its own, and owning her will provide me with a tool to cope with my mental health trauma that will significantly increase the quality of my life.
