Bob Wood Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Our Dad/Paps (Bob), has been going through chemotherapy treatments since July for MDS (Myelodysplastic syndrome). Myelodysplastic syndromes are a group of cancers in which immature blood cells in the bone marrow do not mature or become healthy blood cells. For Bob this has caused critically low platelet and hemoglobin counts resulting in some confusion, extreme fatigue and muscle deterioration. A healthy platelet count is 150,000 to 450,000. Bob’s count has been as low as 2,000 and stays near or below 10,000, requiring platelet and or blood transfusions twice a week. Additional treatments involve a nearly daily drive to the medical center for lab work, drug infusions and the platelet and blood transfusions. The medical visits last anywhere from 3 to 8 hours. Mom and Dad have been blessed to have family who can accompany them on occasion, but most days make these trips by themselves.

Dad is in need of a stairwell chair lift as well as help with other equipment, medical expenses and gas funds. It is our hope to be able to help them offset the cost of some of these things.

We appreciate each and every one of you and are so grateful for the calls and prayers for Dad as he fights this battle. You have encouraged him and also Mom as she cares for him. May God bless you and thanks for sharing this message with your families and Bob’s many friends including electrical coworkers from all around the country.
