Bob & Sally's Family Tree at Notre Dame

Donation protected
In honor of Bob Linnert's 75th birthday, we are purchasing a tree on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. The tree will be dedicated to the "Bob and Sally Linnert Family" and will remain in the family in perpetuity. Anyone that knows Bob knows his love of Notre Dame. The university embodies values that many of us carry with us each day: family, faith, tradition, and honor. Knowing that the Bob and Sally Linnert family will have a legacy on campus is a gift that our father will hold near and dear to his heart. Please note that this is a surprise gift that both Bob and Sally are not aware of.

If you would like to contribute towards the purchase, please feel free to do so. If not, no worries! It is important for us to be extremely transparent in this whole process. The cost of the tree and dedication plaque is $5,000. If we receive contributions above $5,000, the proceeds will be used to send Bob and Sally to South Bend for an in-person blessing and dedication. Anything above and beyond that will be donated to a charity of their choice.

We will be framing a picture of the tree and will invite all to sign the frame. This will be given to Bob and Sally on June 28th when we celebrate his 75th birthday at Cruxapalooza in Bend, Oregon.

Again, no pressure. If you want to participate, great, and if you aren't comfortable, we understand and love you still! Much like the roots of this tree, Bob's reach has touched so many lives throughout his 75 years, so spreading the word of this gift can be a contribution in itself. Please feel free to share the link to anyone in your network that we might not be in contact with.

A little bit about the tree: Yellow-poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera), also called tuliptree, tulip-poplar, white-poplar, and whitewood, is one of the most attractive and tallest of eastern hardwoods. It is fast growing and may reach 300 years of age on deep, rich, well-drained soils of forest coves and lower mountain slopes. In cultural narratives, the yellow-poplar symbolizes strength and resilience. It often appears as a metaphor for endurance, reflecting the tree's ability to thrive in diverse environments.

Thank you,
Leah, Zachary, Joshua, and Nate
