Help Bob Rush Recover from Critical Medical Conditions
Hello, my name is Jim Hudson, and I am asking for your support for our dear friend, Bob Rush, a US Navy Vietnam veteran, parent of four sons and a legendary pillar in the Lean Consulting world, one of the first Americans to be trained by Toyota's home-spun Shingijutsu consultants, who first introduced Lean to the US. One of them once told his client's management team that in his absence, Bob was their sensei, thereby honoring Bob and his level of expertise as a Lean change agent.
Bob just got out of the hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, and a series of medical issues left him unable to work for the moment. He had his right knee amputated last year due to blood clotting issues, which was followed shortly by the death of one of his sons, Justin Rush, who died sooner than he should have. Bob was working really hard to learn how to walk again and had been making great strides (the Rehab clinic staff all called him "Rockstar" because of his amazing progress), but recently had to return to the hospital due to heart issues.
Since that time, he has been recovering on multiple fronts, but was incapacitated while having to lay in bed for over fourteen weeks. Needless to say, it has been a hardship both in terms of his mental well being and his financial well being.
Bob is a proud man and would not ever ask anyone for anything, but I believe that everyone who knows him would want to step up to help him in this time of need; which is why I am asking you to help him. Although Bob is out of the hospital, he’s struggling to fill the financial hole that his hospital stay created, and get back to work (yep, you read that right—Bob still wants to work and help others fix their companies and help people grow). You can help him do that with a donation and your kind thoughts and prayers. Thank you in advance.
Bob is a kind-hearted soul who has always been there for those in need. Whether it was offering a helping hand to a neighbor or volunteering his help to the professional Lean community, Bob has given so much of himself to others. Now, it’s our turn to give back to him.
Why We Need Your Help
His medical bills are stacking up, and Bob’s current condition requires a long-term, intensive recovery plan. Unfortunately, his healthcare options in Tennessee are limited, and moving to Charlotte is the best chance he has for recovery. However, the cost of the move is overwhelming—transportation, medical logistics, housing, and other necessities are simply more than Bob can manage at this time.
Here’s a cost breakdown of what the funds will go toward:
Medical Bills: Ongoing healthcare and recovery costs while Bob is transitioning to a new medical facility.
Transportation: Safe and secure travel to Charlotte, with medical help to ensure Bob’s health is monitored as he makes the journey.
Relocation Expenses: Moving Bob’s personal belongings, setting up a new home in Charlotte, and ensuring he has a stable living situation.
Everyday Needs: Basic necessities like food, utilities, and medical supplies while he settles in.
How You Can Help
Your donation, no matter how big or small, will make a huge difference in Bob’s life. Every dollar raised will go directly to his care and relocation expenses, and we’ll keep you updated on his journey every step of the way.
Additionally, if you’re unable to donate at this time, sharing this page with friends and family will help spread the word and bring us closer to our goal. Word-of-mouth and your personal recommendation based on the knowledge you have, of what a fine human being Bob is, will go a long way.
About Bob
A US Navy underwater explosives specialist (read "badass") who served in Vietnam, Bob Rush is a father, brother, and close friend to many and has touched the lives of almost everyone who knows him. He's also an icon in the Lean consulting world, sharing his expertise and coaching with anyone who raised their hands, frequently citing his motto "whoever shows up are the right people." As an executive and change agent, Bob helped organizations like HP, Caterpillar and Gibson Guitars achieve breakthrough performances that many thought were unachievable. Along the way, he also helped many individuals become better leaders. Throughout his life, Bob has worked hard to support his family and his community in the most selfless ways, and he’s always made people feel welcome and supported. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen medical issues, he now finds himself in a challenging situation, unable to handle the physical and emotional strain of his illness without our help.
Bob’s resilience and positivity in the face of adversity have always been an inspiration to those who know him. Now, as he faces one of the toughest battles of his life, we can help him get back on his feet by providing the support he so desperately needs.

We promise to keep you updated on Bob’s condition, progress and how your contribution is helping him. Transparency is important to us, and we want you to feel confident that every dollar you contribute is going directly toward helping Bob.
