Bob Koblovsky needs our help-Spinal cord injury

Donation protected
On July 1, 2020, Bob Koblovsky received the most devastating news a father could hear. His son Simon, who was home with his family celebrating Canada day by the fire had been in a car accident.  Simon had not planned on going anywhere that evening. An acquaintance showed up with his own car, to pick up another buddy, and offered a ride to the remaining kids to another home as he was going that way anyway. Since Si does not drive, he got in the car with three others for the ride. As soon as they pulled out of his driveway, Simon and the others realised that the car was going too fast for the area and tried to get the driver to slow down the car to no avail. The car ended up in an accident and rolled over. Three of the four passengers were injured and will recover but Simon took the brunt of the crash. Fortunately, the accident happened close enough to home, so they were able to contact his dad, who was on site, by his side within minutes. Bob was able to comfort him until help arrived. Simon was rushed to the Civic hospital where it was determined he suffered a major thoracic injury to his spinal column, resulting in paralysis. He underwent emergency surgery that night to install rods in his back. He has been in the ICU since the accident. Due to his spinal injuries he is currently paralyzed from the chest down, but we hope and pray that with time, rehabilitation and physio he will regain sensations in his legs

Simon’s injury is the severe variety of a spinal cord injury and often results in paraplegia. The healing process, a reduction of swelling, and rehabilitation will give doctors a better idea of the long-term extent of his injury. This accident is devastating.  Simon will now spend a lengthy time in hospital, before being moved to a rehabilitation centre.  Major modifications will need to be made to Bob’s family home for Simon to eventually return. Ramps will need to be installed, doorways widened, counters lowered if possible, a bathroom will need to be built and a room transformed into a handicapped accessible bedroom. Equipment such as a hospital bed, a lift system to transfer Simon out of bed into a wheelchair may be needed, as well as an accessible van will need to be purchased.

Simon played hockey for CPMHA and MTK for 12 years. Bob has always volunteered as the team trainer and always put the health and safety of all players front and centre. He is well known and respected in all hockey circles. Also known as SIFU Koblovsky in the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Bob has trained many kids and adults living in Ontario and closer to home-Carleton Place. Simon learned body health from his dad and trained regularly to stay healthy and fit. The doctors told Bob that it was because he was so physically fit that his body will begin to heal better. My own son has been privileged to train under SIFU Koblovsky for many years and they have formed a special bond. The bond is shared between families which is why with the help of our friend and owner of Active me Fitness Studio, Alex Munro, we have created the GoFundMe page to help them. Bob Koblovsky and his wife Maureen are two of the most amazing, caring people you can ever meet. They have always been there to help everyone else so now it is our turn to be there for them.  Let us show them some Love!

Positive thoughts and prayers for this family in need are appreciated. If you feel moved to help make a difference in the Koblovsky family is lives at this crucial time, they would be grateful for any financial support to help offset the burdensome medical related costs associated with this lifelong trauma, It takes a Village and we want to thank each and everyone of you for showing you care either by donation, prayers or sharing his story. Let us let them know we are here, and we'll get through this, together!!
