Bob was an attentive and loving husband, father, son, brother, and teacher. He inspired so many young adults by sharing his love of music as a high school orchestra teacher. Bob once told me that the secret to being such an influential and beloved teacher is that students are people, and talking to them as such can go a long way. He put his time and energy into creating and developing Poly’s recording arts program and helping students reveal their best selves. I am confident he is etched in the memory of so many who have passed through his door.

His legacy lives on, not just in the music recording arts program he created and students' lives he touched, but in the family he left behind. His wife and 2 young children, who he said were his “best medicine,” grieve his absence as they begin to rebuild a life without him. He adored his family more than words can express and took an active role in his children’s lives. He will be missed immensely.

After suffering from an intense, persistent headache, my brother Bob was diagnosed with brain cancer in the middle of July. He underwent surgery to biopsy the tumor and was told it was incurable and nothing could be done to treat it effectively. His intense battle with brain cancer ended on August 25 as he left this world for the next in the company of his adoring wife Jen, his father, his sister and his father-in-law while listening to some of his favorite music. He was 39.

Bob always saw the world through an optimistic lens, full of possibility. He was always full of humor, eager to learn new things and discovered love and light in corners of life that seemed dark. Despite the shock of the horrible prognosis and quick progression of his cancer, Bob remained upbeat to the end. How? I do not know. That is just who he was.
