Who this will help
Hello. My name is Debi Banderman and my husband, Steve, and I have been friends with Bob & Ginny Ross for years.
Why I'm fundraising
Recently it was confirmed that Bob is in need of neck/back surgery. It is a very invasive procedure with about an 8 week recovery. This will take place on January 22.
Bob is the main provider for their family and is self employed. He will miss this 8 weeks of a paycheck.
Ginny is already on disability and has had her own back issues and surgeries; however, things have recently thrown them a curveball as she has been completely exhausted and feeling terrible. She has been dangerously low on Iron and has needed one blood transfusion so far. The doctors believe she has some internal bleeding, but have not been able to pinpoint what exactly is going on. She is currently having lots of appts with specialists and a lot of tests done…and has been now ordered by her Doctor to bed rest.
The impact of your support
Anyone that knows Bob and Ginny knows that they are some of the warmest and most kind people, the first to give to others, show up for others, and do whatever they can to help others. This is our turn to come around them and give that same selfless support back to them.
As I mentioned earlier, Bob will be off of work at least eight weeks, which means eight weeks of no paycheck. After surgery, he will be recuperating at home and going through all the necessary follow-up doctor appointments, and therapies to heal from the extensive surgery.
Although it would’ve been challenging for Ginny, with her own physical limitations, she had planned to be the main caregiver for Bob as he recovered from surgery. However, now, with her new unknown, medical issues, and being ordered to bedrest by her doctor, she simply cannot go through this alone. She cannot be the kind of caregiver she wishes to be.
The desire in raising money for them is to be able to take care of everything that they will need for the next eight weeks.
We want to hire someone to come regularly to clean their house, hire someone to do laundry (it is located in their basement and neither will be able to use the stairs). We have started a Meal Train also to have people make meals for them or bring them food, hiring someone to shovel their snow, etc. We want any practical needs to be completely taken care of. Also, we would like to give them some extra money to help during the eight weeks that they will not have any income coming in.
They have been trying to save what they can, but it’s simply not enough for all they need.
Our desire is to have their friends and family, and even strangers, come around them and take care of any possible extra need so that for the next two months, they can 100% focus on their own health and individual healing journeys, without a worry of how to get things done or how to afford things.
Thank you so much for considering this! It has been very hard to convince them to allow us to do this for them, because they are always the ones giving instead of receiving. However, they have come to realize they absolutely cannot get through this without help from others. But, I assure you, these are two very deserving people who would give whatever they have to help anyone else, without hesitating.
Now, they need us. Let’s rally around them!
