Father, Husband, Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Neighbor and Friend, Bob Gilbert peacefully passed away early Friday morning January 20, 2023, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family and woos (his beloved dogs) after a 4+ year battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer.
Our Family is coordinating the services and will cover all associated costs. However, we would like to provide an avenue for donations should anyone feel compelled to donate to a cause Bob has been passionate about. We are coordinating two separate donation platforms as outlined below. Please do not feel obligated to donate.
This GoFundMe is set up only for Avian Behavior International as they are not a non-profit and do not have a direct form for donations through their website. Avian Behavior International holds a very special place in Bob's heart as they are a smaller organization and care for all animals, as Bob strived to do daily. One of Bob's favorite animals was the Barn Owl. He loved them so much that he built a beautiful Barn Owl home in his front yard that has seen many Owls call home, including many "clutches" of Barn Owls. Through his love of Barn Owls (and all other animals), his family has been able to develop a love for this beautiful bird as well. Bob's love for Barn Owls is how we encountered Avian Behavior International as they care for Beatrix the Barn Owl. Bob and his family made a special visit to ABI and visited with Beatrix and all of the other animals back in 2018. All donations for Avian Behavior International will go directly to Beatrix the Barn Owl, its habitat, and future Barn Owl rescues.

- Avian Behavior International is home to many different species of free-flying owls, hawks, falcons, parrots, ravens, toucans, and other birds, as well as farm animals and reptiles on twenty acres just north of San Diego in Escondido near Lake Wohlford. ABI is a host to onsite animal tours that focus on birds in their natural state.
