Bob Elliott's Music Makers LLC
This Go Fund Me is being used to help with the extraordinary financial challenges we are facing in finishing the construction of our new home: a facility for the members and clients of the Music Makers Community, a mission that started 4 years ago.
After a run of over 20 years, thousands of shows, workshops, jams, and countless hours of rehearsals, the building that was our home (famously known as The Recording and Rehearsal Arts Building at 251 West 30th Street) was sold, and we were homeless in a short 1-1/2 years with no immediate prospects.
Fast forward to today:
We did it with the help of many individuals and a great 20-year business track record, Wells Fargo has loaned us most of our funding for this project.
Due to the challenges of Covid-19, and the slow return to a new normal, we had to ask for an infusion of emergency funding last month and thankfully it got us to this point today. We were able to pay some of our back rent and work out a better agreement with our landlord moving forward. We are extremely grateful to all the generous people who helped out.
But with the final stages of construction still ongoing and slow movement on all business fronts, we are seeking some additional capital to help keep us going (operating expenses, insurance, taxes, legal fees, accounting expenses, etc) and help us continue to operate until we are officially open. I do believe everyone knows things are really hard for most small businesses and we are no different. We will use every dollar donated immediately towards taking care of the new facility's immediate final construction needs and to the lease obligations attached to our space.
Your support now will guarantee that there will continue to be a professional space available (regardless of age, gender, or skill level) in NYC devoted to bringing the gift that is the Music Makers' music community to you, and all of the Not-For-Profit organizations: hospitals, financial institutions, and tech companies that we have worked with, plus the thousands of professional, semi-professional, and recreational musicians we will serve moving forward.
It's hard to say what this means to me in words but I will try!
From day one, I realized the value of making music together and the impact that it had on my life and everyone who stepped through our doors, regardless of their skill level, they were welcomed and encouraged, and this experience had real power to transform lives for the better and should not be dismissed.
History has proven I was right: throughout the many years in this business, I have heard from countless members and clients, about how this organization has positively impacted their lives in so many ways and they have thanked us for being here.
My hope is to make Music Makers better than it has ever been; with your help, I'm sure we can accomplish this and create
a fantastic facility that will allow all of us to make music together in a way that is personally rewarding and adds to the positive energy in our lives.
By contributing to this organization/movement, you will be doing something that truly does have the power to make the world a better place, one person at a time, and I am honored to be a facilitator and play my small part in that movement and in this community.
Thanking you in advance, with love and longing to see all of us making music together again,
Bob Elliott
