“They would give you the shirt off their back.” You often hear this saying, but how often do you meet the people that embody it? Bob and Elaine are those people.
Back in October, while driving to one of their cherished canoeing events, Bob and Elaine were involved in a serious car accident with an uninsured motorist. Both had to be life-flighted from the scene and, tragically, Elaine succumbed to her injuries.
Bob is making great strides in his recovery journey but we all know how emotionally, physically, and financially straining it can be. As the accident happened in Pennsylvania, he was initially treated at a local hospital’s Intensive Care Unit for his extensive injuries. He has since been transported back to Ohio to continue his healing in a rehab facility closer to home.
Bob and Elaine devoted their time to their church, Boy/Girl Scouts of America, Special Olympics, veterans, canoeing, the local food bank, The Metro Parks (teaching canoeing fundamentals) and gardening. Often times, all those activities were intertwined. They taught Boy/Girl Scouts proper canoe safety, helped retrofit canoes for the disabled and amputees, and donated the vegetables from their garden to cook meals for canoe events and to others in need.
It is now our time to help Bob and his family recover from this tragedy. Medical bills can be overwhelming in the best of times. Not only has Bob lost his wife of over 40 years, he has been under medical care for 2 months to heal his physical wounds with more to come.
Please share this with everyone you know and donate if you can.
